Sean 'Diddy' Combs releases apology after Cassie Ventura 2016 assault video: 'I'm disgusted'

After first denying such allegations, Sean “Diddy” Combs has issued an apology, after a video from 2016 has emerged showing him physically assaulting his then-girlfriend Cassie Ventura .

Two days after the surveillance video footage, obtained by CNN , was released on Friday, Diddy shared a video message to social media on Sunday, where he is seen speaking directly to the camera, stating that there are “no excuses” for his behavior.

“It’s so difficult to reflect on the darkest times in your life, but sometimes you gotta do that. I was f***ed up. I mean, I hit rock bottom. But I make no excuses,” Combs said. “My behavior on that video is inexcusable. I take full responsibility for my actions in this video. They’re disgusting. I was disgusted then when I did it, I’m disgusted now.”

Diddy went on to note that he “sought professional help,” and has been “going to therapy,” and “going to rehab.”

“I had to ask God for his mercy and grace. I’m so sorry, but I’m committed to being a better man each and every day. I’m not asking for forgiveness. I am truly sorry,” Diddy concluded his statement.

The surveillance video, which was taken on March 5, 2016, shows Combs grabbing, shoving and kicking Cassie. The footage matches allegations made in her lawsuit filed last November, which outlines an incident that occurred at the InterContinental Hotel in Los Angeles, which has since closed.

Combs had denied the allegations both in statements from his attorney, as well as on social media with a post captioned “Enough Is Enough,” which has been deleted from his Instagram account.

Speaking out in a statement shortly after the footage emerged, Ventura ’s lawyer said that the "gut-wrenching" video released by CNN "has only further confirmed the disturbing and predatory behavior of Mr. Combs," adding, "Words cannot express the courage and fortitude that Ms. Ventura has shown in coming forward to bring this to light."
