Mayor Eric Adams is reacting to the resurfaced assault footage of Diddy and sharing if he’s considering rescinding the mogul’s key to NYC.

Mayor Eric Adams Speaks On The Viral Footage Of Diddy & His Key To NYC

The New York City mayor sat down with PIX11 for a live interview on Monday, May 20. During the appearance, Adams was asked about “possibly rescinding” Diddy’s key to New York City.

Adams initially responded by sharing his reaction to the resurfaced footage of Diddy.

“I think all of us were deeply disturbed by watching that chilling video of the young lady being assaulted by him,” he said.

The mayor then explained that an honoree has never had their key to the city rescinded before. However, he and his team are “now sitting down to see what the next steps forward are going to be.”

In response, the PIX11 news reporter asked if the mayor is indeed considering taking back Diddy’s key to NYC.

Adam then clarified his initial response.

“We are taking everything under analysis, and the team will come back with me with a final determination,” he concluded.

More Details About Diddy’s Past NYC Honor

As The Shade Room previously reported, Diddy was awarded the key, or symbolic honor, to NYC on September 15, 2023. According to PIX11 , at the time, Mayor Adams reportedly said the “honor was a representation of all Diddy had done for New York City.”

Additionally, the mayor reportedly referred to Diddy’s millions of dollars in donations to the city and support of Black entrepreneurs.

“Sean Combs is the embodiment of the New York City attitude,” the mayor reportedly said. “A son of Harlem, Combs worked his way to the top, becoming a successful musical talent both in front of and behind the mic. Despite all of his successes, Sean has never forgotten where he came from.”

According to the outlet, the late activist and singer Harry Belafonte and the late 9/11 first responder Detective Luis Alvarez are also honorary NYC key holders.
