A Death Row inmate requested a lavish last meal that included lobster, steak, and a cheeseburger.

Ray Jefferson Cromartie made an extravagant 11-item request to prison officials after spending nearly three decades on death row . He was sentenced to death for shooting convenience store worker Richard Slysz twice in the head in Thomasville, Georgia, in 1994.

Despite his conviction, Cromartie maintained his innocence throughout the trial, where he was found guilty of murder and sentenced to death.

Cromartie continued to assert his innocence even after his conviction, making a final attempt to halt his execution. However, his efforts were in vain as the US Supreme Court denied his lawyer's request for DNA testing.

After more than two decades on Death Row, Cromartie was executed by lethal injection in November 2019 at the age of 52, reports the Daily Star .

Before his execution, Cromartie declined to make any final statements but did request a sumptuous array of items for his last meal, which consisted of 11 different foods.

According to the Georgia Department of Corrections, Cromartie's last meal included steak, lobster, macaroni and cheese, cube steak, rice and gravy, a steak and cheese sandwich, a double cheeseburger, fries, a side of ranch dressing, a strawberry milkshake, and a layered cake with white icing.

While many US states have imposed spending limits on an inmate's last meal, Georgia has been known to grant extravagant requests in the past.
