Jim Harbaugh can be an acquired taste. Whether or not he appeals to the Chargers will depend on whether or not he wins. In the meantime, Harbaugh is making some changes to the way the team practices early in his first year as head coach.

Reports out of Los Angeles are that Harbaugh eliminated music from practice on the first day of OTA's and placed a premium on conditioning by closing practice with sled pulls and medicine ball carries.

The guys discussed Harbaugh's old-school techniques on The Valenti Show (in the audio player above), with Valenti saying Harbaugh has "to thread a needle. He needs the time to get enough weirdos around him, AKA 'his type of player.' Let’s be real about it: you gotta be a weird kid to go play for this cat. Straight-up, he’s not for everybody, so you gotta want that weirdo thing.

"He’s going to have to get a number of his type of guys around, and win. If he does that, he’s got a shot. My fear is, what worked for him (with the 49ers) was 12, 15 years ago. It is so different now than even what it was then. I'm fascinated to see it. I get why the Chargers did it, but man, this dude’s weird."
