The City of Wichita has a new way for residents to interact and engage with its art seen around the city: online. The Division of Arts and Cultural Services has partnered with The Public Art Archive, a free online and mobile database of completed public artworks throughout the U.S. and abroad, to create a web portal that both catalogs and calls attention to the City's growing public art collection. The City of Wichita Public Art Collection is now available for viewing.

“The launch of this platform is a significant step in making our public art collection more accessible and aligns with our mission of ensuring everyone has access to the arts," said City of Wichita Division of Arts and Cultural Services Director Lindsay Benacka. “As the City’s collection continues to grow and evolve, we look forward to using this nationally recognized platform to better serve our residents and ensure that Wichita’s collection continues to draw visitors to the community.”

The collection comprises a wide variety of artwork which can be found throughout the City, from the hard to miss Georgia Gerber bronze sculptures along Douglas to an Edwardian granite fountain tucked away in historic midtown at 17 th Street and Park Place. Public art also adorns City infrastructure such as major roadways and bridges. The Division of Arts and Cultural Services is responsible for managing the City's public art, integrating artwork in Wichita's community spaces, and stewarding the 2% of Capital Improvement Program (CIP) project funds in order to ensure appropriate funding, selection, creation, conservation and maintenance of public art.
