Minivan Driver Sentenced to 9-13 Years for Fatal Clark County School Bus Crash

    2024-05-22

Hermanio Joseph, the driver involved in the tragic collision with a Clark County school bus last August, has been sentenced to serve between nine and 13 years in prison. The crash claimed the life of 11-year-old Aiden Clark and injured over 20 other children.

Earlier this month, Joseph was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter and vehicular homicide for veering across the centerline and hitting the school bus head-on. The judge, reflecting on the case's emotional impact, described it as one of the most challenging cases in his 30-year career.

Having already served nine months in prison during the trial, Joseph will be eligible for parole consideration in nine years. After his release, he will be on probation for two to five years. The sentencing has brought a sense of closure to the emotionally charged case.

The incident occurred on August 22, 2023, along State Route 41, involving a Northwestern Local school bus carrying 52 children on their first day of school.
