    The Madison Jazz Festival returns Friday, June 7-Sunday, June 16 for 10 days of free concerts, presentations, and ticketed shows.

    Chuck France discusses Sarah Vaughan and Richard Davis
    | June 8 | 10:30 a.m. | Pinney Library, 516 Cottage Grove Rd. | WORT 89.9FM host Chuck France will explore the careers of Sarah Vaughan and professor Richard Davis, an American jazz bassist.

    Dan Cavanagh Quartet | Sunday, June 9 | 5-7 p.m. | Allen Centennial Garden, 620 Babcock Dr. | Pianist and director of the Mead-Witter School of Music Dan Cavanagh has written for Patti LaBelle.

    The New Orleans Tribute | Monday, June 10 | 6-7:30 p.m. | Warner Park, 2930 N. Sherman Ave. | This band, featuring veteran Madison musicians, performs New Orleans Jazz, R&B, and second line music.

    Lenard Simpson Quartet | Tuesday, June 11 | 7-9 p.m. | North Street Cabaret, 610 North St. | This Milwaukee native moved to Chicago to become one of the city’s top saxophonists.


    Madison Jazz Jam | Tuesday, June 11 | 7 p.m. | North Street Cabaret, 610 North St. | Jazz improvisers of all ages and skill levels are welcome to jam out with other locals.

    Mr. Chair’s Strings & Things | Wednesday, June 12 | 7 p.m. | Cafe CODA, 1224 Williamson St. | 2021’s Wisconsin Area Music Industry Best Jazz Artist blends jazz, classical, and rock music.

    String Theory: The Richard Davis Method | Thursday, June 13 | 7 p.m. | Madison Museum of Contemporary Art, 227 State St. | Watch a screening of this Richard Davis documentary before hearing from the producer and other jazz professionals.

    A Celebration of Vocal Jazz | Friday, June 14 | 7 p.m. | Arts + Literature Laboratory, 111 S. Livingston St. | Adekola Adedapo, Donna Woodall, and Michelle DuVall will serenade attendees with the help of a few supporting musicians.

    Memorial Union Terrace weekend

    The Madison Jazz Festival will end with a weekend of free performances at the Memorial Union Terrace .

    Headliners for the weekend will be the Orrin Evans Quartet on June 15 and the Dee Dee Bridgewater Quartet on June 16, both running from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
