Duke Energy has requested a raise in energy bill rates, according to a press release.

If approved, the case would allow Duke Energy to raise the rates for each residential customer’s flat, monthly connection charge by $3.16. Volumetric charges would also rise, so that projected cost for an average monthly residential bill for 1,000 kWh would be $170.67. The proposed rates would begin March 2025.

The Indiana Office of Utility Consumer Counselor (OUCC) will allow public comments on Duke Energy’s pending rate request by July 5.

Written complaints should be sent to the OUCC’s website, by email at uccinfo@oucc.IN.gov or mail.

Citizens Action Coalition of Indiana, Sierra Club, Wabash Power Alliance and many other parties have intervened in this case so far, the press release said. Other parties interested in intervening may file by July 11.

Currently, the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission evidentiary hearing starts Aug. 29.
