Dacula (Ga.) — Mill Creek three-star linebacker Luke Metz is already committed to Alabama. Despite that solid commitment, a new offer from Georgia has given Metz something to think about.

Georgia defensive coordinator Glenn Schumann made a stop at Metz’s school last weekend at the end of spring practice before extending an offer.

The Bulldogs check a lot of boxes for the in-state linebacker. The culture in Athens is something that immediately stands out for Metz.

“They are fast and physical. I also love the coaching staff there,” Metz said. “They coach hard. It’s very intense and I like that.”

Metz grew up in Georgia. This offer was a big one from a local standpoint in addition to all of the football attractions Metz has.

“I was very excited and fired up,” Metz said. “I love Georgia and everything they are about… It’s the Georgia Bulldogs. It means more when you live in Georgia…It’s extremely close to home. My biggest offer is one of the closest to home- that means something.”

Metz has Georgia in the same category as the Alabama program he’s committed to. The Bulldogs and Crimson Tide met last season in the SEC Championship Game. Alabama or Georgia has been in seven of the 10 College Football Playoff National Championship games.

“Georgia is the best of the best,” Metz said. “Georgia and Alabama separate themselves from the rest of the pack.”

At 6-foot-3 210 pounds, Mets is the No. 410 overall prospect in the 2025 On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average of the four websites that publish recruiting rankings. He’s also the No. 42 linebacker in the country and the No. 45 player in Georgia.

Metz committed to the Crimson Tide back on March 24. Georgia extended an offer on May 17. The Bulldogs are now working to get a visit from the newly-offered defender, who visited UGA in the winter. No specific plans have been set up yet but an unofficial visit could be on the horizon and the home-state school would love to get him in for an official visit this summer.
