Palisades and Mammoth Closing Weekend Operations Updates

The California spring skiing has lived up to the hype this year, but it is slowly coming to an end. The last day to get some turns at Palisades Tahoe and Mammoth Mountain is on Memorial Day Monday, May 27.

There’s a slew of events, activities, parties, live music, and other things going down at both resorts.

The operations updates are as follows:

At Mammoth you can expect the Mammoth Yacht Club to be in full effect. All you salty sea dogs best be wearing your most seaworthy outfits to sail the seven seas of the Eastern Sierra Nevada.

The Third Annual Mammoth Yacht Club Boat Races will be going down on Saturday May 5. Unfortunately, all the slots are filled up, but they advise you to check on their Instagram for possible drop outs and last minute openings.

Build a makeshift cardboard boat with your friends and race down the course. Prizes are awarded for who has the most fun and the best dressed.

This weekend you can also hit a trifecta of outdoor activities at Mammoth. The bike park and Sierra Star Golf Course are opening on Friday, so you can get some spring corn laps in the morning, ride the bike park in the afternoon, and tee off at the golf course after 3 pm.

There will also be live music Friday-Monday at the Tusks Bar and top of the Sierra.

Palisades also has a full lineup of events this weekend that mostly revolves around the Made in Tahoe Festival May 25 and 26. The skiing is still killer with basically top to bottom skiing still open.

It’s a free festival that highlights local Tahoe and Truckee area artists, entrepreneurs, and organizations. Check out the full lineup of music, vendors, and events here .

On Saturday there will also be a Washoe culture talk on the KT Deck. Members of the Washoe Tribe will be talking, informing, and telling stories about their rich history, natural landmarks, the Washoe way of life, and much more.

Go out and get it while you can! The last few days in California to get some spring laps with a chairlift before you have to earn your turns in the backcountry the rest of spring and summer.
