Purdue's baseball season came to a close Wednesday night, with a 6-2 loss to Nebraska marking the end of a brief stay in the Big Ten Tournament.

The Boilers struck first, when freshman first basemen Luke Gaffney notched an opposite-field solo shot in the bottom of the first.

They wouldn't be leading the next time they came to the plate, as the Cornhuskers jumped on senior pitcher Luke Wagner for four runs in the top of the second.

After that Purdue mustered only one run, via sacrifice in the bottom of the second. The Boilers struck out 11 times the rest of the afternoon, seven of them swinging.

Nebraska hurler Drew Christo, who has pitched to a 4.91 ERA on the season, collected the save. He was perfect for three innings Wednesday, allowing no baserunners and striking out four.

The loss was Purdue's ninth in its last 10 conference games.
