    At a recent program at the Hopkins County Genealogical Research Library, speaker Ken Hanushek's topic was 'The Relationship Between Sam Houston and Andrew Jackson.' He included parallels in the lives of the two American leaders.

    Raised in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, Hanushek earned a Bhachelor's degree in history from Grove City College, Pennsylvania, a Masthers degree in political science from Auburn University, and a Master's degree in history from Texas A&M-Commerce. He is a retired Air Force colonel.

    He was on the history faculty of Northeast Texas Community College for 16 years, the history faculty at Paris Junior College for 7 years, and teaches at PJC-Sulphur Springs Center.

    He also is a piano accompanist for the Northeast Texas Choral Society and the organist at First Presbyterian Church in Sulphur Springs.
