This is the first time in program history the Demonettes made it to back-to-back the semi finals.Game OneThe Demonettes fell to the Lady Indians 8-2 on Friday, May 17. Yaritza Vargas, Aaliyah Garcia and Lisbeh Quiroz all collected a hit in the contest.Dumas took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning with an error committed by the Sanger shortstop to bring Vargas across the plate. The Lady Inidians tied the game in the bottom of the third due to a Demonette error.After an inning and a half of no runs, Dumas took a 2-1 lead with another error committed by Sanger. In the top of the sixth inning Abby Chapmond of the Lady Indians hit a two-run homer to give Sanger a 3-2 lead. Star Cortes collected three hits in four at-bats, including a solo home run.Sanger took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, but Dumas found themselves on the board in the top of the second with a ground out by Aaliyah Garcia to allow Katie Contreras to cross the plate to trail the Lady Indians 2-1.After both pitchers recorded shut down outings, Sanger extended its leas in the bottom of the fourth inning driving in three runs for a 5-1 lead. Fierro went two-for-three at the plate with two runs scored.After a scoreless first inning, the Demonettes took a 1-0 lead, the score remained until the top of the fifth when Lily Wilson of Sanger crushed a two runs home run to give the Lady Indians a 2-1 lead.Sanger added to its lead with a single to drive in a run in the top of the sixth inning. The Demonettes battled in the bottom of the sixth with a single by Garcia to tie the game at 3-3, followed by a sacrifice fly from Sania Reyes to bring in Fierro, capped off with a two run triple from Vargas to give Dumas a 5-3 lead heading into the seventh inning.In the top of the seventh Wilson came up strong once again for the Lady Indians with a one runs double. The next batter recorded the second out for Sanger to bring up pitcher Leala Kloewer, facing a 0-2 count, Kloewer hit a double into right field for a 6-5 lead.The Demonettes went three up, three down in the bottom of the inning to fall to the Lady Tigers.The Demonettes once again made another strong showing in the postseason, but just came up short.
