    Planning Survey

    Lowndes County Public Schools invites you to help with strategic planning by completing an online survey. Visit www.surveymonkey.com/Lowndes_Community_Survey before June 5 to participate.

    Pre-K Program

    First Years Child Development Center, First Class Pre-K offers a free 4-year-old program from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. for working parents and 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for non-working parents. Classes start in August. Space is limited. Call Katina Surles at (334) 281-8627 for more information.

    Fishing Tournament

    The Fishers of Men Fishing Tournament, a ministry of Genesis Baptist Church, will be held May 25 – 27 at 488 Pearl Lane is Lenox. The contest is free to enter and offers six grand prizes with two age divisions, 12 and under and 13 and up. Call 855.244.3466 Ext. 5.

    Church Anniversary

    The Calvary Church in Lowndesboro will celebrate its 10th anniversary with the theme, “Great is Thy Faithfulness: Lamentations 3:23” Sunday, June 2 at 2 p.m. Guest speaker will be Bishop Kyle Saercy.

    Kiddie Kollege

    Head Start’s Kiddie Kollege Summer Program will run from June 3-27. Call (334) 548-2145 or visit www.lowndesboeheadstart.org for information.

    Summer Reading

    The Hayneville Public Library will host a summer reading program every Wednesday – Friday from 1 – 3 p.m. from June 5 – July 12.Parents may register children May 27 – June 4 from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Call Rutha Davis-Bonner at (334) 548-2686 for more information.

    Job Fair

    Lowndes County Public Schools will host a job fair June 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Central Office auditorium. Bring your resume. Interviews will be conducted on site. Contact Dr. Kimberly W. Pruitt at (334) 548-2131 or by email at kwilliams@lowndesboe.org for more information.

    LCUWP Applications

    The Lowndes County Unincorporated Wastewater Project is accepting applications for septic system installation or repair at its office located at 507 W. Tuskeena Street in Hayneville. Call (334) 548-2006 or stop by Monday, Wednesday, or Friday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for an application.

    Head Start

    The Lowndes County BOE has opened Head Start registration for children ages 3 and 4 for the 2024-2025 program year. Current immunization records, proof of income, and proof of age are required to register. Call (334) 548-2145 or visit www.lowndesboeheadstart.org for information.

    Summer School

    Lowndes County Public Schools are hosting a summer program for grades K-8 June 3-27 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day, Monday – Thursday. Transportation will be provided. Breakfast and lunch will be served. Call Demond Mullins or Kimberly Pruitt at (334) 548-2131 for more information.

    Juneteenth Celebration

    Community members are invited to the inaugural Juneteenth Celebration, June 15 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Freedom Park, across from the Whitehall Town Hall. Churches, performers, groups, and businesses are welcome to participate. Registration deadline is May 30. Email lcjuneteenthcelebration@sgmail.com for more information.

    Wellness Tour

    The Wellness Coalition has scheduled a Tour of Wellness Community Health Fair on June 29. The event will take place at the Hayneville Town Square from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Call (334) 293-6502 for more information.
