Swift Action by Haines City FD Prevents Disaster in Jefferson Rd Blaze

HAINES CITY, FL – A potentially disastrous fire was swiftly contained by the Haines City Fire Department (HCFD) on Wednesday afternoon, preventing widespread damage and ensuring no injuries. The incident occurred at a residential building at 200 Jefferson Rd., where heavy smoke and flames greeted the first responders.

The fire was reported at approximately 1:55 PM in Unit B of a single-story, four-unit residential structure. Witnesses quickly confirmed that all occupants had safely evacuated before the arrival of the fire services. The HCFD, supported by Polk County Fire Rescue (PCFR), launched a coordinated attack on the flames. HC Engine 2 initiated the response with an exterior attack to suppress the fire, followed closely by HC Engine 1, which conducted an interior offensive to fully extinguish the blaze.

Further assistance came from PCFR Medic Rescue 30 and HC Tower 1, which performed thorough searches of adjacent units to ensure no individuals were trapped or endangered. Despite the fire venting through the roof and being visible from the front door and windows, the teams managed to bring the situation under control within a mere 15 minutes.

The fire department’s presence continued on the scene until 4:55 PM, meticulously searching for and eliminating any remaining hot spots to prevent re-ignition. The swift action of the fire teams ensured that there were no casualties among the residents or the firefighting personnel.

The State Fire Marshal's Office has been called in to investigate the cause of the fire, which remains undetermined at this time. Meanwhile, the American Red Cross has been mobilized to assist residents displaced by the fire, providing necessary support for food and clothing as arranged by the property manager.
