The City of Greenville is kicking off Memorial Day weekend and the summer by opening the Greenville Outdoor Aquatic Center at Eppes Recreation Center on Saturday.

The facility, which opened to the public in 2022, will operate Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend this year. For Memorial Day weekend the pool will be open Saturday-Monday.

Located at Thomas Foreman Park, 400 Nash St., the $4 million facility includes a 165,000-gallon pool, a zero-entry area, six competition-style lap lanes, an 18-foot-high slide, a 4,000-square-foot bath house and more. It replaced the 50-year-old community pool adjacent to Guy Smith Stadium. That facility has since been demolished.

The city said it has hired more than 30 lifeguards to operate the pool this year. Along with the public swim hours, the pool will host departmental and community camps from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. between June 10-Aug. 9.

Staff also is developing a swimming lesson program that will be offered from 6 months old up to adults of any age.

The Yellow Fins, the department’s swim team, will swim against other teams who participate in the Greenville Area Summer Swim League. The outdoor aquatic center will host three swim meets this summer.

Daily entry fees for the pool are $4 for residents, $6 for non-residents. Children under the age of 1 are free with a paid adult.

The city also offers season passes. City of Greenville residents must bring proof of residence. When purchasing a family pass, all adults will need to bring proof of the same household address.

Acceptable documentation includes government-issued IDs such as a driver’s license or a current bill with name and address.

An individual season pass is $40 for residents and $60 for non-residents. A family pass, which allows two adults and four kids under the age of 25 is $70 for a resident and $105 for a non-resident.

Visitors also must to sign a liability waiver to enter the pool. Groups and camps are admitted by reservation only; for reservations call 252-329-4043.
