Anya Taylor-Joy says she’s just as in the dark as the fans are regarding her potential return as Alia Atreides in Dune 3 .

“I’ll know when you do. I think we’re all really hopeful,” Taylor-Joy said about Dune 3 in an interview with GQ where she addressed her interest in returning to Arrakis. “Listen, I’m ready now, I’ve done the training. I think you kind of need to do the movie in order to be ready for it.”

Taylor-Joy initially met director Denis Villeneuve to discuss playing a larger part in Dune: Part Two . Due to her commitments to Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga , however, Taylor-Joy agreed to make a surprise cameo as the grown-up version of Paul Atreides’ ( Timothée Chalamet ) unborn sister. The character appears in Paul’s vision after he drinks the Water of Life.

“Anya was Alia as soon as I met with her,” Villeneuve said. “In fact, I realized after the fact, she has always been Alia. Anya feels out of this world, as though she belongs to some other dimension, one step into the dream.”

    Dune: Messiah

Following the success of Dune: Part Two, Warner Bros and Villeneuve are currently developing the third installment based on Frank Herbert ‘s 1969 novel Dune Messiah . Though Villeneuve stated his intention to produce a different project before filming the next Dune, production company Legendary Entertainment says they’re ready to go as soon as he is.

“I think this is a movie where you know the word of mouth is going to carry it. It is a stupendous piece of filmmaking. There’s no other way to say it. I’ve just about run out of adjectives,” Legendary CEO Josh Grode said in an interview with CNBC . “We have to have all creative stakeholders aligned and support the vision. I think everybody is very excited and really enjoying this moment, and if Denis [Villeneuve] gets the script right and he feels that he can deliver another experience on par with what we’ve just completed, then I don’t see why not.”

Dune: Part Two is now streaming on Max.
