The Greenville Recreation and Parks Department is finalizing staff hires for its summer camp and training plans are set for a day camp atmosphere.

Topics worked on included customer service, behavior management, inclusion, conflict resolution, child development and safety procedures.

Summer camps will be held at multiple locations beginning as early as Tuesday. Locations include the Drew Steele Center (for campers with special needs), Eppes Recreation Center (ages 5-12), Greenfield Terrace (5-12), H. Boyd Lee Park (5-10), Jaycee Park (3-16), River Park North (4-15) and South Greenville Recreation Center.

Registration is still being accepted through the City of Greenville website and at various recreation facilities. Recreation will remain open until all available spots are filled.

    Baseball

The annual opening day festivities for the Jackie Robinson Baseball League are set for June 16 at the league’s home at Thomas Foreman Park, 400 Nash St. and the Eppes Recreation Center.

The ceremony celebrating the open of the 31st season of the JRBL is set for a 3 p.m. start.

The theme for this year’s event is “A Walk on with Dad.” It will include an official welcome and key recognitions at the Eppes Center and is open to the public.

Following the ceremony, games will begin at Thomas Foreman Park.
