Wright will play Isaac in Season 2 of the dystopian drama based on Naughty Dog’s video-game series. This is a huge deal for fans of The Last of Us Part II , because Wright also played Isaac in the game.
Per his official character description in the show, Isaac is “the quietly powerful leader of a large militia group who sought liberty but instead has become mired in an endless war against a surprisingly resourceful enemy.” In Part II , he is the head of the Washington Liberation Front (known as the “Wolves”), an aggressive faction that took down FEDRA in Washington state and later went to war with another rogue group known as the Seraphites.
Wright played Bernard on HBO’s Westworld . In addition to films like American Fiction , for which he recently was nominated for an Academy Award, his TV resume includes Boardwalk Empire , She’s Gotta Have It and House . He won an Emmy for his performance as multiple characters in HBO’s 2003 miniseries adaptation of Tony Kushner’s Angels in America .
He’ll be the second actor to reprise a major role from the games: Merle Dandridge portrayed Fireflies leader Marlene in both versions of the story.
Wright is the lastest addition to the Season 2 cast, which includes Kaitlyn Dever ( Dopesick ), Young Mazino ( BEEF ), Isabela Merced ( 100 Things to Do Before High School ), Danny Ramirez ( The Falcon and the Winter Soldier ), Ariela Barer ( Runaways ), Tati Gabrielle ( Chilling Adventures of Sabrina ), Spencer Lord ( Heartland ) and Catherine O’Hara ( Schitt’s Creek ). They’ll join returning cast members Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey — see the first Season 2 photos of them here — as well as Rutina Wesley and Gabriel Luna.
