YouTuber Ryan Hall raises $93,000 for Greenfield

DES MOINES – Ryan Hall is a YouTuber and Meteorologist who livestreams severe storms. He and his team were livestreaming Tuesday when an EF4 tornado hit the town of Greenfield in Iowa.

Andy Hill, one of the storm chasers part of Hall’s team was on the ground Tuesday and said that they started raising money as soon as they saw the damage to the town.

“Whenever something like this happens and we understand the gravity of what occurred while we were watching it go through the town on radar and then we see the footage and images of destruction here we immediately activate the Y’all Squad and make the stream available to everyone watching we raised $93,000 in the next few hours from those people watching the stream and talking about it,” Hill said.

The Y’all Squad is a charity that Ryan Hall created to help support victims of tornados and other severe storms.

Caleb Beacham, the Y’all Squad Field Coordinator, said that the charity was formed to make it possible for livestream viewers to donate.

“The Y’all Squad is a non-profit that was formed about a year-and-a-half ago by YouTuber Ryan Hall. We started it originally because we had thousands of people after storms that wanted to donate so we figured the best way to use that money was to start a non profit 501c3,” Beacham said.

The Y’all Squad arrived hours after the tornado stuck Greenfield and provided critical supplies and meals. They also gave one of the families whose home was destroyed by the tornado $30,000 to help recover.
