<body><div><figure><img src="https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?type=thumbnail_580x000&amp;url=19HkPa_0tO5wadO00" alt="https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=19HkPa_0tO5wadO00" width="429" height="500" ></figure>The Tewksbury High girls lacrosse team couldn’t be happier with where it stands with one game remaining on the regular season docket.The Redmen have shattered last season’s win total, good enough for an 11-8 record and a berth in the Div. 3 state tournament.“It feels fantastic,” Redmen coach Erin Murphy said. “The girls have worked really hard, and I think that they’re showing when you work like a team and get everybody involved, good things can happen.”Tewksbury started off another successful week with a 19-5 thumping over Dracut on Tuesday, which produced nine different goal scorers, including Kat Schille (seven), Ava Nordbruch (three), Paige Crowley (two), Emma Giordano (two), Emily Picher, Skylar Auth, Mackenzie Hickey, Keira Gaffney, and Tea Nickerson. And despite a 13-8 loss to Methuen on Friday, the Redmen caught the Rangers by surprise. Methuen won the first game between the team, 15-6.“We definitely kept it a lot closer this time around than we did last time, which was good to see on our end,” said Murphy. “I don’t think they expected it. At one point we were down two, and you could tell they were a bit surprised. We put up a good fight.”Nordbruch (three), Schille (two), Crowley, Grace Willey, and Reese Maniscalco found the back of the net in the loss.It was the same story for the Redmen on Monday, putting up a valiant effort to Wakefield in an 11-7 loss on the road.“We hung with them pretty good, I think we just were a little sloppy in our transition and had a few forced turnovers had we been a bit more careful with the ball,” said Murphy.Schille scored four goals to lead the offense as Crowley, Picher, and Addison Tanguay notched tallies. Lydia Barnes was instrumental in goal, making 21 saves.“She had a fantastic game,” Murphy said of her netminder. “They had a lot of opportunities on her. We had to adjust a little bit, they were getting some fast break opportunities, but she was doing a good job of stopping the ones that were right in front of her. She was coming out and being aggressive. She kept us in the game.”Tewksbury concludes its regular season slate with Haverhill on Wednesday night. The last time both squads met, the Redmen escaped with an 11-10 triumph.“It would be nice to finish strong against Haverhill,” said Murphy. “We did have the win against them earlier in the season, so it would be good to come out and get that win against an MVC opponent. After that, it’s kind of just keeping it simple. Solidifying some of our offensive plays, keeping our passing clean, and making sure we’re healthy enough to keep up with the team that we’re going to play.”</div></body>
