Seeking Loving Homes for Cats - Dallas Animal Services.

    2024-05-25

Dallas Animal Services is currently seeking foster families and forever homes for cats as they have reached full capacity. The shelter has been at maximum capacity for dogs for several months and is now facing a crowded cat crisis.

As of May 24, the Dallas Animal Shelter had 689 cats and 704 dogs, all waiting to be adopted. Karla Alvarado Falcon, the coordinator of Dallas Animal Services (DAS), mentioned the urgent need for adult cat fosters and fosters for underage kittens to free up space for incoming kittens.

DAS has waived adoption fees for several months to increase the likelihood of adoption. For those unable to adopt, fostering is an alternative. The foster program enables Dallas-based homes to offer temporary living arrangements for animals in a less stressful environment than a crowded shelter.

To become a foster, you must complete a foster application, foster agreement, and general release. The organization's website lists available foster pets, and you can schedule appointments to meet with a foster team member.
