    Details and Security Procedures for Upcoming Holloman AFB 2024 Airshow in June 2, 2024

    The Thunderbird Welcome Party is set to take place at Washington Park, Saturday night June 1st and is open to the Alamogordo community and its surrounding areas. This event provides a unique opportunity for guests to meet the Thunderbirds and enjoy live music. Anticipated to draw a crowd of 5,000 peope from the region.

    The main event is hosted by the 49th Wing whic excited to announce the Legacy of Liberty Air Show at Holloman Air Force Base on June 2, 2024. This free one-day event will be open to the public and will showcase the mission and capabilities of the U.S. Air Force and Holloman AFB. Guests will be able to interact with Holloman Airmen responsible for executing the wing’s mission of building the backbone of combat airpower.

    There will be a variety of aircraft on static display and exciting aerobatic performances. The air show will also have food, music, and a variety of activities for the whole family including a kid zone and a Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) area.

    Sunday, June 2, 2024. The rehearsal for all aerial acts is on June 1 from 10AM-3PM and is open to Dept. of Defense ID cardholders only.

    For the safety and security of all guests, several items will not be allowed on base. All spectators will pass through a security checkpoint prior to entering the event. Everyone is subject to search and may be asked to provide proof of identification.

    Some of the prohibited items include:

    • Weapons of any kind (including small pocketknives)

    • Illegal drugs, marijuana in any form (including its derivatives such as THC and Delta-8)

    • Alcohol or any other beverages in glass bottle

    • Ice chest, tents, shade canopies and grills

    • Large beach umbrellas

    • Pets (other than service animals)

    • Drones, aerial toys, and remotely controlled aircraft vehicles

    • Bicycles, roller blades, roller skates, skateboards, and scooters

    Guests entering the premises with any forbidden items will be requested to either put them in an amnesty box or return them to their vehicle.

    Large backpacks are not allowed but small backpacks are permitted. A small backpack is defined as a standard backpack, tote bag, draw string backpack, purse, clutch, diaper bag, shoulder bag, handbag, or camera bag that does not exceed a 26-liter capacity or 18" x 10" x 9" size dimensions. All bags will be searched for prohibited items.

    Feel free to bring a folding chair, stroller or small wagon for your children, a blanket or small personal umbrella to create some shade. It is strongly recommended to bring a hat, sunscreen and ear protection.

    It will be very hot at the airshow so the public is encouraged to bring in a large, personal non-glass water bottle to stay hydrated.
