For the second year in a row, Middleton came home with the Player of the Year award in the 5A Southern Idaho Conference. Trey Swygart earned the conference’s top honor, following Robert Orloski who won it last season.
The power-hitting senior hit seven home runs this season with 31 RBI and a .329 batting average, leading the Vikings to the top record in the SIC in the regular season. From the mound, Swygart threw a team-high 54 ⅔ innings, striking out 85 batters with a 2.05 ERA. The senior is committed to the University of Portland next season.
State champions Owyhee had four first team all-conference selections and 11 total. Eagle, the district champions, also had four first team selections, along with head coach Scott Deck being named the coach of the year in his first season with the Mustangs.
In 4A, Skyview senior Grady Daniels earned Player of the Year honors in the SIC for the second consecutive year. Daniels hit .512 at the plate with three home runs and 37 RBI. The Hawks finished the season 24-3. Head coach Ryan Bobo was also named the Coach of the Year for the second year in a row.
Bishop Kelly finished second at state and had nine players earn all-conference honors.
In 3A, state runners-up Homedale were led by Snake River Valley conference Player and Pitcher of the Year Dillon Fine. The Utah-commit dominated opponents this season, striking out 126 batters in 57 ⅓ innings on the mound with a 0.37 ERA. At the plate, he batted .551 with two home runs and 23 RBI.
Homedale had five first team all-conference selections and eight total.
Nampa Christian finished the season with a 23-3 record this season. Junior Kaden Mullins was named the Western Idaho Conference Player of the Year. He held a 0.26 ERA in 54 ⅔ innings pitched. He had a .296 batting average with 15 RBI.
Cole Valley Christian head coach Nathan Hoiosen was named the Coach of the Year.
