    Klein graduates from McDaniel College

    WESTMINSTER, Maryland — Katie Ann Klein, of Port Charlotte, graduated cum laude with a bachelor of arts degree on May 18 in psychology and kinesiology from McDaniel College.

    The cum laude honor is for graduates with a a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 to 3.69.

    DiMonda graduates from Shorter University

    ROME, Georgia — Josephine DiMonda, of Port Charlotte, earned a bachelor of science degree in elementary education from Shorter University in a ceremony May 2, in the Winthrop-King Centre on Shorter’s Rome campus.

    DiMonda also was named to the dean’s list for the spring semester of 2024. To achieve it, students are enrolled full time and must earn at least a 3.5 grade point average.

    Angueira earns degree from Minnesota State

    MANKATO, Minnesota — Kevin Angueira, of Venice, earned a bachelor of science degree in aviation in a ceremony May 3 from Minnesota State University, Mankato.

    Swann earns degree from WPI

    WORCESTER, MASSACHUSETTS — Aaron Swann, of Venice, received a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in a ceremony May 10.

    Marin named Presidential Scholar

    POTSDAM, NEW YORK — Rylee Blair Marin, of Port Charlotte, was named a Presidential Scholar for the spring 2024 semester at Clarkson University. Marin is a senior majoring in mechanical engineering.

    Presidential Scholars must achieve a minimum 3.80 gpa and carry at least 14 credit hours, the school noted.

    Ferguson named to dean’s list

    SAN ANGELO, TEXAS — Ireland Ferguson of Venice, was recently named to the dean’s list at Angelo State University for the 2024 spring semester.

    To be eligible, full-time students must have a 3.25 or better GPA on a 4.0 scale.

    Ferguson is majoring in marketing at Angelo State, according to a news release.

    Freddolino earns dean’s list honors

    AMERICUS — Sarah Freddolino, of Venice, was named to the spring 2024 dean’s list at Georgia Southwestern State University.

    To be eligible, a student must earn a GPA of 3.5 or better and take a minimum of 12 credit hours.

    Simken named to dean’s list

    CAPE GIRARDEAU, MISSOURI — Reese Simken of Nokomis, was named to the Southeast Missouri State University dean’s list.

    To earn the distinction, students must earn at least a 3.75 GPA on a 4.0 scale, completed at least 12 credit hours with no grade below a B.

    Guscette named to SEC service team; semifinalist for Buster Posey Award

    TUSCALOOSA, ALABAMA — Mac Guscette, of Nokomis, was recently named to the 2024 Southeastern Conference Baseball Community Service Team. He is a catcher for the University of Alabama.

    “Guscette formed a non-profit organization named ‘frameworks9’ which provides eye exams and glasses for families in need,” a news release stated. “(He) has volunteered numerous hours at The Miracle League of Tuscaloosa while also participating in all team-affiliated service efforts such as the University’s Halloween Extravaganza and Thank-a-Thon.”

    Guscette was also selected as a Buster Posey National Collegiate Catcher of the Year Award semifinalist, the Wichita Sports Commission announced.

    Guscette is one 16 semifinalists for the Posey, which is presented each year to the nation’s top catcher in Division I. The winner will be announced June 26.
