18-Year-Old Odessa Motorcyclist Killed in Collision on Dale Mabry Highway

Hillsborough County, FL. - According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), a tragic accident has claimed the life of an 18-year-old woman from Odessa. The incident occurred late on the night of May 25, 2024, around 10:20 PM, near the intersection south of Colby Road.

Authorities report that the collision involved a Mazda 6, driven by a 62-year-old Tampa woman, and a Kawasaki motorcycle. The Mazda was traveling northbound when the driver attempted a U-turn into the southbound lane where the motorcycle was traveling.

The motorcycle, operated by the young Odessa resident, was unable to avoid the car and collided with the vehicle's side. Despite prompt medical attention and transportation to a local hospital, the motorcycle driver succumbed to her injuries.

The driver of the Mazda was reported uninjured in the incident. The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) is investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash, including the decision to execute a U-turn on the busy highway.
