Missing South Carolina woman’s car last seen in North Carolina

SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) — Officials are asking for the public’s help in locating a woman who went missing Friday afternoon.

According to the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office, Mary Ellen Holland, 79, left her home on Holly Springs Road between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. in a grey Kia Forte 4DR with her dog Charlie.

Holland’s family told officials that she is believed to be in the onset stages of Alzheimer’s, as well as low blood sugar.

The woman is described as 5’4″, weighing around 186 pounds, with grey hair and brown eyes.

Holland’s car has a South Carolina plate with the tag ALP 364.

The sheriff’s office said that the last confirmed sighting of Holland’s Kia Forte was around 6:26 p.m. Friday when her car was captured on Highway 9 in Polk County, North Carolina.

This is not the first time this has occurred. According to Holland’s family, around a year ago, she left home unannounced and ended up in Newport, Tennessee.

SLED issued a statewide alert for Mary Holland, and asked that if anyone sees her to call the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office at 864-809-5299.
