BOONE COUNTY, Ark. — A preliminary survey from The National Weather Service (NWS) from the Little Rock office has found that a suspected low-end EF-3 tornado touched down in the Olvey, Arkansas area overnight on Sunday, May 26.

This would be the first EF-3 tornado in our area since 2019, when an EF-3 tornado resulted in three fatalities near Carthage, Missouri, on May 22, 2019.

Boone Co., Ark. Jail, Sheriff’s Office damaged in Sunday’s storms

At least one fatality has been confirmed near Olvey by Boone County officials Sunday as severe storms ripped through the area last night.

An EF-3 tornado brings wind gusts from 136 to 165 mph and destruction levels strong enough to damage well-built homes.
