    2. Remove Soap Scum

Soup scum can look gray, white, or chalky. It appears in areas around the sink, bathtub, tiles, and shower. By using the correct cleaning methods, you can avoid this unwelcome mess. Take a look at these easy bathroom cleaning hacks to remove soap scum.

    • First, spray the affected area with cooking spray and allow it to saturate the soap scum for 10 minutes. Then wipe it off with a cloth and some hot water.
    • In a spray bottle, add equal amounts of distilled white vinegar and water. Next, add 3–4 drops of dishwashing liquid and give it a shake. Then, spray the affected area and wipe it clean with a cloth.
    • When you sprinkle baking soda on the soap scum, pour a little distilled white vinegar on top. As it foams, it will begin to lift the scum, then wipe it clean with a cloth.
    • Make a paste with lemon juice and borax, and then work it into the soap scum. Allow it to stand for 15 minutes, then give it a scrub and rinse it off.

    3. Homemade Floor Cleaner

Don’t worry if you have run out of floor cleaners. You can easily make your own by mixing water, white vinegar, and rubbing alcohol together. Furthermore, add a few drops of your favorite essential oils to make it smell nice.

    4. Natural Glass and Mirror Cleaner

If you have any white vinegar in the pantry, pour some into a spray bottle, spray it on the glass, and wipe it. Additionally, if you don’t have any vinegar on hand, simply make a hot cup of black tea and allow it to cool completely. Next, put it on a cloth and wipe it clean.

    5. Keep a Box or Bucket in the Bathroom

Save time by keeping a box or bucket under the bathroom sink filled with all your cleaning detergents. This way, you have everything on hand for a quick cleanup. Additionally, if you have any small children, remember to place a safety lock on the door. You wouldn’t want them to get into anything they shouldn’t.

    6. De-Mist Mirrors With Shaving Foam

    7. Disinfect the Toilet Brush Holder

The toilet is filled with an average of 3.2 million bacteria per square inch. Yet, we don’t think about how many of these bacteria remain in the brush holder. To rid these bacteria, it is a good bathroom cleaning hack to put some detergent into the holder.

    8. Sputtering Showerhead

It can be frustrating when you look forward to a nice, hot shower only to find the showerhead sputtering. Don’t worry; there’s no need to rush out and buy a new one. Showerheads get blocked by the mineral deposits that clog up the jets. Thankfully, there is a simple bathroom cleaning hack that can quickly solve your problem. Simply take the showerhead off and leave it submerged in a bowl of distilled white vinegar overnight.

    The Showerhead Won’t Come Off

Oh no, the showerhead is stuck! For a quick fix, pour some white vinegar into a plastic bag and securely attach it with rubber bands to the showerhead. Leave the bag on overnight; this will dissolve the minerals. Next, in the morning, take the bag off and turn on the tap rinse.

    9. Mildew on the Shower Curtain

Shower curtains are prone to getting a buildup of mildew. A simple bathroom cleaning hack can make it look new again. All you need to do is put the curtain in the washing machine on a 30-degree wash. Next, add one scoop of washing powder and one scoop of bicarbonate of soda, and let it run through the cycle. Additionally, if the curtain is fabric, run it through the rinse cycle with 100 mls of white vinegar and hang it out to dry. Should it be plastic, you do not need to run it through a vinegar rinse.

    10. Disinfecting Toilets

Vinegar mixed with baking soda is a natural disinfectant. Mix the two together and place it around the toilet bowl. Then, allow it to rest for a few minutes before using the toilet brush to give it a good scrub.

    11. Using Lemon or Grapefruit in the Bathroom

Lemons and grapefruit have a distinct sour flavor because of the amount of acid they contain. When cut into slices, they add a refreshing flavor to a glass of water. However, lemons and grapefruit can be used as popular economical cleaners when it comes to bathroom cleaning hacks. Let’s take a closer look at the benefits of cleaning with lemon and grapefruit.

    • To keep your chrome sparkling, cut a lemon in half and rub it all over. The acid in the lemon removes watermarks, leaving it looking spotless once rinsed and buffed.
    • Cut a lemon in half and rub it on areas that have soap scum. The acid helps break down the dirt and bacteria. By cleaning affected areas regularly, you prevent the regrowth of bacteria.
    • Rust stains begin to form when iron starts to destroy fixtures in the bathroom. This can include door frames, which can suck up moisture in the bathroom or shower. It ends up leaving behind a nasty-looking brown surface. The magic behind lemon juice is that it can remove rust. In fact, adding rock salt to the rust and then lemon juice and allowing it to sit for about 30 minutes before wiping it away can help eliminate this problem.
    • Both lemons and grapefruit are powerful natural cleaners and can also make your home smell fresh.

    12. Dry the Floor

Now, this is something I always need to remind my kids about. There is nothing worse than walking into the bathroom and slipping on the floor. Obviously, no one wants to get injured; however, make sure the floor is dry. It can prevent moldy buildup in the grout. Wet floors are also magnets for hair and dust.

    13. Blocked Drains

Although this method may unblock a slightly blocked drain, it’s best to investigate the reason why the drain is blocked first. Unfortunately, this method did not work for me. My husband and I tried everything to unblock the drain. Here’s the reason why: My son decided he wanted a snail farm that was filled with sand, grass, and vegetables for the snails to feed off. He later discovered that the snails had died and threw all the snails, as well as the sand, down the bathroom sink. This led to an absolute disaster in the bathroom because even the toilet got blocked. He only admitted to throwing everything down the bathroom sink and the toilet a week later. Thereafter, we knew we needed a plumber to solve our problem.

However, if the blockage is not too bad, throw a few tablespoons of baking soda down the drain, then add an equal part of white vinegar. Allow it to set for about 30 minutes, then flush it with warm water. Furthermore, I have found that this method works well down the kitchen sink and also eliminates odors.

    14. DIY Toilet Bombs

Toilet bombs can be quite pricey; however, with a few simple ingredients, you can create your own at home. This can also be a fun, safe activity to get the kids involved in. Depending on the size of your mold, you could make 12–16 toilet bombs. Silicone molds are the easiest to use, and they also come in cool shapes. All you need is some citric acid, baking soda, essential oils or lemon juice, white vinegar, water or hydrogen peroxide, and a mold. Your toilet will smell fresh all week with every flush.

    15. Keep Grout Clean Using a Toothbrush

There are many ways to clean grout. You can use a bleach pen or spray the area with a half-and-half mixture of white vinegar and water. However, if you have bicarbonate of soda on hand, put some on an old toothbrush and give the grout a good scrub. If you don’t have bicarbonate of soda, you could always use bleach. However, for best results, allow the bleach to soak in first before rinsing. As a reminder, bleach is a strong detergent, so to protect yourself, wear a mask and gloves.
