It's safe to say that the one thing most people look forward to in life is retirement. It is an opportunity for people to enjoy the fruits of their labor, spend time with family, and enjoy all of their favorite hobbies and interests.

However, one of the most important decisions to make when it comes to retirement is - where to live. Not only that but which place is the safest?

According to a new report by Country 103.7, the safest place to retire in America is located in NC. Pinehurst was named the safest place to retire! According to Travel + Leisure, the publication that conducted the study, "The cost of living is more than reasonable and the crime rates are good enough to crown it as the number one place to feel safe in your retirement". According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the median age in Pinehurst is 60.3 years.

I think it's already bit the dust now that this articles out. I think it has way too much expensive housing and I don't want to pay that much to play golf. I think unfortunately too many Yankees came here to just like Raleigh because of magazine articles on how great it is. I can think of a ton of other places in the Sandhills where you can buy cheaper houses and have a lot of money left over to enjoy retirement. I Aberdeen , Asheboro , Wilson and New Bern, Havelock, Hope Mills, Randleman are all much better cities to retire in and safer also. I think eventually the criminal element will go to Pinehurst and prey on these poor old people.
