Sunday's storms take a toll across the state

Earlier today, there were no reports of injuries or fatalities related to Sunday's storms which WSLS catagorized as tornadoes some Virginia locations. Sadly, this is no longer true.

Trees have been reported across the state, and 100 buildings have been damaged in Virginia Beach. In Roanoke, WSLS 10 says the roof of a building at Roanoke Avenue and Korte Street Southwest was blown off, and one person was injured.

WSET reports that Nelson County Sheriff Mark Embrey said a 26-year-old man died after being injured during the storm. Deputies and EMS received a call to go to James River Boat Landing in Wingina, Virginia.

They found an unresponsive man seated inside a motor vehicle. The vehicle was parked but hit by a tree limb that fell during the thunderstorm. The name and address of the man who died have not been released at this time.
