Watch a Jedi Slice a Giant Bug in The Acolyte Featurette

A new featurette takes you behind the scenes on upcoming Star Wars series The Acolyte .

The hotly anticipated show, which releases June 4 on Disney+, happens farther back in the timeline than any other live-action offering.

“In The Acolyte ,” says chief creative consultant Dave Filoni, “[creator] Leslye [Headland] takes you on an adventure that lets you inside what she loves about Star Wars.”

And apparently what Headland loves is a murder-mystery involving a dead Jedi, a hidden assailant, and plenty of martial arts.

The featurette shows The Matrix star Carrie-Anne Moss, who plays Indara in The Acolyte, wielding what appears to be a wooden lightsaber stand-in as she trains for her big one-on-one encounter with Amandla Stenberg’s Mae.

There’s also glimpses at scenes involving spacecraft spinning out of control as the pilot struggles to control it, and a horde of Jedi brandishing lightsabers charge at a mysterious figure, only to be pushed back by a wave of kinetic energy.

And at one point, one of them slices a big bug in half. There’s a lot happening.
