The Alabama Board of Pardons and Paroles met May 15 and granted parole to one inmate serving time for a Crenshaw County conviction.

Michael Alan Henegan, 50, was granted parole by the board. Henegan has served 18 years and five months for a 2010 Crenshaw County conviction of theft of property in the first degree. He is currently housed at the Bullock Correctional Facility.

Henegan’s cousin, Tammy Edgar, petitioned the board in support of his release. His parole was approved with the special condition to complete a GPS ankle monitor, mental health assessment and drug Assessment upon release.

Prior to his 2010 conviction, Henegan served time for 1998 second-degree theft of property and second-degree escape convictions from Crenshaw County. In 1993 he was convicted of three felony counts of offenses-personal in Coffee County.

He also served two years for two counts of first-degree theft of property from 1994 Crenshaw County sentences.

The board heard 25 parole hearings, denying 20 and granting five. Ten pardon hearings were conducted. Eight were granted and two were denied.
