Staffing shortage causes abrupt closure of Upstate daycare

Since the Covid pandemic, we have all heard or seen the effects of staffing shortages in businesses of all types around the country. That issue is now causing the closure of an Upstate daycare.

Last week, parents were notified that Eddlemon Child Development Center in Spartanburg County would be closed this week. Then, this past Saturday, parents got another message announcing the permanent closure of the center due to staffing shortages and not being able to hire a Director.

Originally the two, three and four year old classes were supposed to run until July. The abrupt nature of the closure has now sent parents scrambling to find another daycare provider, many of which reportedly have waiting lists.
