Janet Louise Weith passed away peacefully in Philadelphia, PA on May 21, 2024. Jan was preceded in death by her loving husband George James Weith (Jim) and is survived by her three children Gina Weckel and her husband Eric of Philadelphia, PA, Joe Weith and his wife Mary of Burlington, VT, and Mary Kiffney and her husband Gustin of Portland, ME. She is also survived by her ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Jan was born in Libertyville, IL in 1938 to Harold and Marie Tennyson. She graduated from Libertyville High School and attended the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana where she met her husband and love of her life Jim.
Jan and Jim were married in 1958 and raised their children in Lake Bluff, IL. Jan was a successful travel agent and enjoyed volunteering for many worthy organizations. Jan and her family loved to camp in northern Wisconsin and travel to the Caribbean for sunny, tropical vacations. After raising their family in Lake Bluff, Jan and Jim lived in Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Indianapolis before retiring to Sun City, Arizona. After Jim’s passing, Jan moved to Philadelphia to be closer to her kids and grandchildren living on the East Coast.
Jan was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend and will be missed dearly by all who knew her. A private family memorial will be held to celebrate Jan’s life. In remembrance of Jan, please consider a donation to the Parkinson’s Foundation at www.parkinson.org.
