The Giants are hot, and they've gotten great value at the plate from their young players. But they are facing a conundrum with their young shortstop Marco Luciano, who is struggling mightily with the fielding portion of his job.

Luciano has five errors in eight games and they are of the head-scratching variety, on routine ground balls. So what should Bob Melvin and the Giants do with the 22-year-old, who's batting .391?

Former MLB outfielder and Bob Melvin acolyte Eric Byrnes joined Willard and Dibs Tuesday to give his view. He doesn't think the Luciano experiment at shortstop is viable.

"Move him to the outfield," Byrnes said. "I mean eventually that's probably where he'll end up. And he's got great actions at certain times and situations but I'm just not sure that he's going to be able to play shortstop at the big league level for an entire career."

"There's just certain actions that that I've seen that I'm like, man, he'd probably be better served just to be in the outfield. And I'm sure it'd be a lot less stress for him. At this point, you gotta you got to get somebody in there late for defense and you try to ride the hot bat as long as you can. Hopefully get the lead and then and then make a change here. But if you're not playing catch, you're not gonna win games. It's just not gonna happen."
