A new term of service and dedication to the Bosque River Valley Chapter, NSDAR, has begun.

During the May meeting of the Bosque River Valley Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, members were delighted to have District II Director Vicki McComack as Installing Officer for the 20242026 term Chapter Officers.

Mrs. McComack thanked all outgoing officers for a job well done, before welcoming the new officers to their term. Mrs. McComack congratulated the newly elected Chapter Officers, encouraging them to serve well and lead the Chapter to do great things demonstrating the DAR Motto: God, Home and Country.

The Chapter Officers for the 2024-2026 term are: Regent Susan Ferguson, Vice Regent Dana Herod, Chaplain Sue Fielden, Recording Secretary Ann Lenz, Corresponding Secretary Therissa Young, Treasurer Mary Lou Starnater, Registrar Laura Vaughn, Librarian Clova Gibson, and Historian Liz Caraway.

Bosque River Valley Chapter, NSDAR, is pleased to award two scholarships, and congratulates the two outstanding students. Riley Finney is the recipient of the Sue and Sherrod Fielden Scholarship. Amy Garcia received the second scholarship.

A memorial service for Robin Gannon, a member of the Bosque River Valley Chapter, was held during the May 19 meeting. Local family members as well as her mother and daughter from Houston were in attendance. Chapter Chaplain Sue Fielden prepared and led a beautiful remembrance service in memory of Robin. The Scripture reading shared by Chaplain Sue Fielden was from John 14:1-4 and 6: “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You have faith in God; have faith also in me. In my Father’s house there are many dwelling places. If there were not, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back again and take you to myself, so that where I am you also may be. Where I am going you know the way. I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

Guest speaker for the May 19 meeting was Glenda Stone, Chair of the Friends of the Dick Smith Library (Tarleton State University, Stephenville). She provided details of the Spirits of Erath Cemetery Walk.

That committee consists of actors, researchers, script writers, tour leaders and other volunteers. The Spirits of Erath Cemetery Walk is an annual fall event featuring interesting stories about people from the historical past of the area.
