Dick Grayson and Wally West have been best friends for most of their lives. Despite their different upbringings, the two have stood by one another since their Teen Titans days. However, a brief scene confirmed how strong the bromance between The Flash and Nightwing truly is.

The Flash #9 by Sim on Spurrier , Ramón Pérez , and Vasco Georgiev referenced the dire straits of the DC Universe. The cosmos is unbalanced, with speedsters being blamed for an increasingly unstable Speed Force . Superheroes themselves are facing increased suspicion thanks to Amanda Waller and her Bureau of Sovereignty. And Wally West was AWOL, having become convinced he needed to cut himself off from his loved ones to fix the Speed Force.

In the midst of this, and running between dimensions, The Flash paid a visit to Nightwing. Dick Grayson spoke of how bad things had become, from the issues with the Titans to his own sudden inability to handle heights. What disturbed him most, however, was the sudden absence of his best friend without explanation.

Despite Everything, Nightwing Trusts The Flash

Wally, for his part, had been so successful in cutting himself off from his loved ones that he doesn’t remember Nightwing. He guesses they were close, as he feels a connection, but asks Dick Grayson to stop thinking about him so he can do what can be done. Dick responds by reminding The Flash of how he once told him to “change the way you look at things, and the things you look at will change.” This gets Wally to address him by name when he says goodbye, indicating that something of the Wally he knew is still there.

It should be noted that Wally West seemed oddly unconcerned about his wife, Linda Park, in all of this. However, this was only due to Linda losing her empathy thanks to the manipulations of Abra Kadabra . Nevertheless, it is notable that the friendship between Dick and Wally was what most distracted The Flash in the absence of his wife.
