Vera Wang’s Swimsuit Photo Is Dividing the Internet as the Media Claims She’s ‘Aging Backwards'

Everyone knows that Vera Wang is an amazing, legendary fashion designer with an impeccable style, and is a gorgeous public figure . She is beloved for so many reasons, and oftentimes, fans lose it over her stunning swimsuit snapshots. But now, the media has taken a bit of a spin on the narrative, and many are rather upset with how they’re covering Wang’s photos.

In case you missed it, on May 28, Wang shared a series of stunning poolside photos with the caption reading, “My SLIM AARONS moment …Happy Summer !!! ☀️ 😎 🩴 Eyewear: #VeraWangEyewear @kenmarkeyewear.”

In the photos, we see Wang on a diving board, pool behind her as she models a white one-piece swimsuit, silver Wellies, silver statement earrings and her Vera Wang sunnies. Truly, she looks so in her element, and so beautiful while lounging in style.

But, when these photos dropped, many outlets picked it up, saying that she’s “aging backward.” It’s 2024, can we retire this phrase? She looks stunning, and she doesn’t have to look like she’s “aging backward” to achieve beauty. Aging is nothing to fear, and the media glorification of such has truly split the internet, with many X users calling out the phrasing.

One user wrote , “Why are we afraid to show the realities of being 74? I loved my mom’s wrinkles & smile lines. They showed she lived life! Its sad to think that we’re not allowed to age now… gracefully or not;” and another wrote , “No she isn’t, and there’s no shame in that. Get a grip.”

Now, here’s the thing: even Wang has thrown shade at the whole “aging backward” comments; she is proud of her age! For example, one fan in a previous post wrote , “You are very very, very young👏👏,” and she quickly she said, “NO. I am my own person but def not young.”

Along with that, she talked about how she hates any form of ageism, telling the BBC per Yahoo Life that she finds ageism “so old-fashioned.” She added, “You have to try and continue to grow in one way or another.”
