II recently watched a video of a young girl mistreating a city employee because her lifestyle seemed to be much better than the worker of the sanitation department. The worker was doing her job of cleaning the streets when the girl bumped into her. The girl was looking at her phone not watching where she was going creating the accident.

As some people do, the ones that seem to have an easier lifestyle than others, the girl blamed the worker for the problem and chastised the employee for being in the way. The worker, being a polite older woman, was shamed and embarrassed by the younger person.

There are a lot of people in this world today who believe their attitude and outlook on life is better than others. However, no one knows what the other person is facing in their day to day experiences. There are many among us that are facing hardships and heartaches but seem to keep their problems to themselves and do not go around broadcasting them.

There are also people among us that seem to have a greater lifestyle than the people around them and seem to enjoy flaunting their success. They tend to treat people as if they are below their standard of life and don’t think about others having feelings as they do.

In the Bible the great historian Luke tells us in his gospel, chapter 6, verse 31: “And just as you want men to do to you; you also do to them likewise.”

We are told throughout the Holy Scriptures to treat others with respect. Why should we think we are any better than anyone else? Yes, there are many who go down the wrong road of life and seem to be in trouble most of their life, however they are still human beings and we should try to help them, not belittle them. Of course, there are going to be people that do not want our sympathy or our help and love following the ways of the world.

None of us know what the future holds even though our life at the present time seems to be unbreakable. No one knows what tomorrow may bring.

Just as the young girl treating the older city employee with disrespect found out what you do today may give you a guilty feeling you cannot get rid of tomorrow. The girl’s mother was given a new chance at life because someone donated their heart through the organ donation plan. The mother’s failing heart gave her only a few days to live but she was saved through this life saving donation. The donation came from the chided city sanitation worker who had passed away earlier in the day.

The young girl who had mistreated the older worker must now carry the burden of hurt with her for the rest of her life since she has no way of telling that person she is sorry. We never know what other people are going through. We should all remember to treat others the way we want to be treated and then life should give us no regrets.

Prayer: Thank you Jesus for the opportunity of knowing other people. I pray that I never disrespect anyone and treat everyone the way I should. Amen.
