Fact Check: 'Trump Mailer' Warned Texans Would Be 'Reported' to Him If They Didn't Vote?

Images shared on social media showed a mailer sent to voters in Texas ahead of a May 28, 2024, runoff election reading, in part: "Your neighbors are watching and will know if you miss this critical runoff election" and "please don't make us report you to President Trump!"

Context:

While people in multiple Texas towns received this mailer, it was unclear who sent it or what their political motivation was.

On May 23, 2024, social media users on Reddit began sharing images of a purported mailer sent to some Texas voters encouraging Texans to vote in a "critical runoff election."

Texas held its primaries in March , and former President Donald Trump easily won Texas' Republican nomination for president. But several down-ballot primary races were too close to call, requiring a runoff election on May 28, 2024:

As the Texas Tribune reported, this runoff election is important for determining various congressional, legislative, and local positions, and could shift the balance of power in the state. Though Trump's image is featured on the mailer, its purported purpose is not to get people to vote for Trump on May 28, 2024, but rather to get people to vote in these down-ballot races:

"Your neighbors are watching and will know if you miss this critical runoff election."

"We will notify President Trump if you don't vote. You can't afford to have that on your record"

"We are sending an official list of Republicans who fail to vote in the upcoming runoff to President Trump."

"We will contact you after the election to make sure you voted."

"Please Don't Make Us Report You to President Trump!"

Local news outlet My San Antonio reported that individuals in multiple Texas towns including Denton — the town that appears in a viral image of the mailer — received them, lending credence to the notion that the mailers are real. Multiple users in a subreddit dedicated to Denton indicated they had received one.

The provenance of the mailers, however, is another question entirely. The mailer's graphics imply it came from a group called the "America First Conservatives Election Center." While several pro-Trump groups exist whose name contains some combination of the words "America First Conservatives Election Center," we found no evidence that this is the real name of any registered political organization or company.

One image of the mailer shows that it came from an entity that holds a prepaid, presorted postage permit issued out of Austin, Texas.

Because there are multiple reports of people receiving the mailer, Snopes rates the existence of this particular mailer as "True" while withholding judgment on its origin or intent.
