Kingdom of the Planet of The Apes Smashes Box Office Expectations

Kingdom of the Planet of The Apes is a huge hit in cinemas.

The film, a sequel to 2014’s Dawn of the Planet of the Apes , has now grossed $300M worldwide. That’s against a reported budget of $160M.

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is currently fourth in the worldwide box office, behind Dune Part Two, Godzilla x Kong : The New Empire , and Kung Fu Panda 4 .

It’s a great result for 20th Century Studios and director Wes Ball, especially since the highly anticipated Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga is languishing at 20th on the chart.

Ball says the digital release of Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes will include an unedited version of the film featuring the actors in mo-cap suits.

“I think it's gonna be great,” he said in an interview with YouTube channel Ape Nation. “For geeks like us, it's gonna be a first. They've never seen this kind of thing.”
