The city of Surprise is performing traffic signal upgrades at Bell Road and Coyote Lakes Parkway, adding flashing yellow arrows for left turns in all directions.

The work to install these new signals will require overnight traffic restrictions.

Work will begin at 8:30 p.m. on Friday, May 31 and is expected to be completed around 9 a.m. on Saturday, June 1.

During this time, traffic on Bell Road will be restricted to one lane, and left turns will be prohibited both eastbound and westbound.

The southbound lanes of Coyote Lakes will be closed, and traffic traveling south will be detoured to 115th Avenue.

Vehicles traveling northbound on Sierra Dawn will also be restricted to only a right turn.

Once this project is complete, all four directions at the intersection will have flashing yellow arrows.

This means you can make a left turn, but only when it is safe to do so. You must use caution and yield to pedestrians and oncoming traffic – those drivers will have a green light.

The installation of a flashing yellow arrow has been shown to increase the level of safety and efficiency for vehicles making a left turn at a traffic signal.
