Pike County Kid’s Fishing Day set for June 15

Those lazy, hazy days of summer are the perfect “go fishing” time.

With that understanding, comes Pike County Kids’ Fishing Day at Clay Hill Farms on Saturday, June 15. All kids, ages five, to 15 are invited to participate in this day of free fishing at Clay Hill Farms in Pronto.

Kids’ Fishing Day will begin at 8 a.m. with hooks out of the water at 10:30 a.m. Registration will begin at 7 a.m.

“There is no guarantee that each kid will catch ‘the big one,’ but there is a guarantee that the pond will be teeming with eating-size catfish,” said Jerry Jinright, Pike County Conservation Officer.

“Even more catfish will be added to the pond for Kids’ Fishing Day and that will greatly increase the opportunity to take home a stringer of catfish.”

Any child may participate in the Pike County Kids’ Fishing Day who is accompanied by a parent or other responsible adult.

The annual Kids’ Fishing Day is sponsored by Wal-Mart, Alabama, the Alabama Conservation Enforcement Officers Association, the Alabama Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries Division and Pike County TREASURE Forest.

The event is partially funded by the Federal Sport Fish Restoration Program.
