In front of a packed commissioner’s courtroom, the Dallas County School Board voted 4-0 to reinstate Superintendent Anthony Sampson.

The move came after a nearly two-hour and 30-minute executive session that included Sampson, his wife and his attorney for several portions of the private meeting.

Sampson said he was relieved by the decision.

“I am excited to get back to work for the students of Dallas County,” Sampson said after the meeting.

Sampson declined to speak about the allegations or the corrective action that was passed by a 3-2 vote.

    M. Flanagan-Brown made the motion to reinstate Sampson, and Mamie Solomon seconded the motion. All board members voted “yea” while Board Chairman Leroy Miles abstained.

The motion also included a directive to change the locks to the superintendent’s office and issue him the new keys, his computer and phone.

Miles, William Minor and Mark Story voted in favor of allowing attorney Malika Fortier to administer the corrective action plan in accordance with the state department of education.

This story will be updated tomorrow.
