Once again, the Best of the Best Reader’s Poll in Shelby County will conclude with the presentation of our highly coveted certificate awards. These prestigious accolades symbolize the exceptional quality and service that our community consistently delivers.

For 2024, we’ve added many extra benefits and features including vinyl banners door stickers, all leading to the grand finale, an awards banquet to honor the winners.

The first crucial step is your vote. In response to the valuable advice of our local area business owners, The Light and Champion has made changes to this year’s Best of The Best Reader’s Choice Awards ballot.

This year, ballots will be in print only. Starting next week, they will be available exclusively inside every issue of The Light and Champion for five consecutive weeks. There will not be an online ballot, as seen in recent years. Your voice, your vote, is what makes this event truly representative of our community.

Once you, the voter, turn in all ballots, by hand or by mail, the General Manager will hand-count them and confirm the results with The Light and Champion staff. Only one vote per person will be allowed and counted. Photocopies will not be admitted. Ballots must be an original newsprint page from the newspaper.

Winners will be contacted by The Light and Champion staff by phone. The newspaper will assemble a “winner’s” special section that will be distributed at the awards banquet and throughout the newspaper.

Advertising space is available on the printed ballot that will run for five weeks. That space is limited and first come, first serve. While Veronica and Ashley are working very hard to contact as many local businesses as possible regarding this advertising space, call the newspaper office if you want your business’s advertisement on the ballot. This space will sell out very quickly.

The newspaper is looking forward to a fair reader’s poll and would like to invite all of our readers to fill out the ballot as completely as possible. Winning a “Best of the Best” award for area businesses shows these businesses that you, our readers, and their customers are pleased with their products and services.
