Actor Jenna Dewan Mourns Death of Beloved Dog ‘Meeka’

On May 29, Jenna Dewan took to social media to mourn the death of her beloved dog, Meeka . The senior canine had been with the actor for about two decades, being her companion through many highs and lows. The “ Step Up ” star noted that Meeka was like her first child and the one who made her feel she was ready to become a mom.

Meeka passed away on May 28, after spending nearly two decades with Jenna Dewan. According to her Instagram post , the dog was 18 years old at the time of passing. The actor noted that Meeka was her “first baby” and the one who showed her that she was ready for motherhood.
Moreover, the senior dog accompanied Dewan through several pregnancies, including the birth of her eldest daughter, Everly Tatum. She also stated that while she had long prepared for the day her beloved pet would die, it was still hard to come to terms with the fact that she was actually gone.
The actor jokingly noted that the duo had more eras than Taylor Swift in the 18 years they were together. Moreover, Dewan took to her Instagram stories to thank her fiancé, Steve Kazee, for all the love he has showered Meeka with. She noted that the beloved canine was lucky to have him by her side.
Meeka died peacefully with her family by her side. In the goodbye post, Jenna Dewan thanked her beloved dog for making their last moments together memorable. She said, “Somehow, even in your last moments, you knew what I needed.”
Meeka’s passing comes a few years after the sudden death of Violet Mae, the couple’s previous pet, per People . Violet belonged to Steve Kazee, and he had her with him since she was a puppy. Jenna Dewan adopted the dog into her family when the couple started seeing each other.
