Dawn Staley Makes Basketball History With Viral SLAM Magazine Cover

Dawn Staley continues to make history in the world of basketball.

On Thursday, the South Carolina head coach became the first coach to land a solo cover with SLAM Magazine.

Several historic coaches have made the cover alongside their star players, but Staley is the first coach to grace the cover on her own.

"It was all a dream until South Carolina head coach Dawn Staley made it a reality. SLAM 250, featuring the Hall of Famer, is out now," SLAM wrote on X.

Photos from Staley's SLAM Magazine cover shoot are all over social media.

A'ja Wilson, a former superstar player for the Gamecocks, wore a T-shirt featuring Staley's SLAM Magazine cover before the Las Vegas Aces' game on Wednesday night.

Staley, a four-time Naismith Women's College Coach of the Year, just led South Carolina to an undefeated season capped off with an NCAA Tournament National Championship victory.

"To have coached 24 years in this game, I know that I don’t care about a personal legacy," Staley said in her SLAM cover story. "I want to let my players talk about the legacy that they were able to feel every day from our coaching staff."
