(Nick Cooper/News Advocate) </figcaption></figure> The Frankfort boys golf team placed fourth at their final Northwest Conference meet on May 22, shooting a 374, putting them behind Maple City Glen Lake, Leland and Benzie Central. Sophomore Cash Rosum led the Panthers with an 89, securing himself First Team All-Conference Honors for the second time in his high school career. “He’s very competitive on the inside, with his own self and his inner being versus competitive with other players,”&nbsp;Hammon said. “On the course he just focuses on his game and his playing ability.” Aiden O’Dwyer shot a 91, also earning First Team All-Conference Honors. “He practices the most out of anybody and plays as much as he can until the sun goes down,” said Frankfort Head Coach Steve&nbsp;Hammon. “That has built up his high school career to be one of the six best players in the conference.” Finishing third for Frankfort was Elliott&nbsp;Hammon, who totaled a 99 earning him Second Team All-Conference honors. Hammon also was awarded the Northwest Conference “Spirit of the Game” award for his positive attitude and sportsmanship. “Elliott is quite the steward of the game in practicing and playing,”&nbsp;Hammon said. “He is quite the student leader to the underclassmen whether it’s in the car or on the range and supporting them in good or bad rounds.” Sebastian&nbsp;Dunaway finished with a 95 for Frankfort, which gave him Honorable Mention All-Conference. “Sebastian has a free spirit about practice,”&nbsp;Hammon said. “Playing great is good and playing bad happens and he doesn’t get worked up about it.&nbsp;He was always wanting to be the last one on the simulator at practice.” During the first half of the season, Frankfort had the edge over Maple City Glen Lake in the Northwest Conference standings, but in the second half the two squads flipped. In 18-hole matches teams earn triple the amount of points than typically 9-hole events, and on May 22, Leland took full advantage placing second in Northwest Conference tournament and jumping the Panthers in the standings finishing second. On May 30, the Panthers travel to&nbsp;Stonegate Golf Club in Twin Lake for their Division 4 Regionals Meet hosted by Muskegon Catholic Central. “We went down for a practice round last Sunday,”&nbsp;Hammon said. “Our low four would’ve put us at second place last year. So that really gave the kids a good vibe and good discussions that this is totally possible. “Each of them said they had two or three easy shots that they missed and each of them know that at regionals that can’t happen.” Last season the Panthers missed the state qualifying mark by five strokes, but they believe that this season will be a little different. “In their mind we’re making it to the state finals,”&nbsp;Hammon said. The top three programs at regionals will move onto states, which will take place on June 7-8 at The Meadows, located at Grand Valley State University. </div></body>
