Mitchell Wasek, 28, has been accused of recording people in bathrooms and bedrooms without their consent in Dallas and in a lake house.

The former law student is facing 21 counts of invasive visual recordings. The recordings involve 13 people, and they span over two years.

The man was a student at the time the recordings were done.

Authorities have revealed that Wasek recorded people while they were showering, using the bathroom, having private moments, or changing clothes in Dallas and at his dad's home.

The son of Buc-ee's co-founder was taken into custody and then released on a $280,000 bond.

"May a homeowner install a camera in his home without telling housekeepers or guests, or does the guest have a greater legal right than the homeowner? This is one of many thorny legal issues we will be litigating in this case," David Gonzalez, who is Wasek's attorney, wrote in a statement.

Authorities reviewed the footage from a camera in a bathroom wall and found 68 videos with recordings of at least 13 people.

"They were unaware that the recordings existed in the bedroom and bathroom, and indicated they did not consent to be recorded or photographed," an affidavit states.

Two of the guests shared that they reported the issue in Dallas and gave the camera to the Dallas Police Department.

The department's involvement hasn't been confirmed by a Dallas police spokesperson.
